I installed the windows v5.3 binaries from here and was wrestling with it to get it to work for a few hours. I had set the default output window to windows and every time I tried to plot a graph, it would crash. Changing the terminal to 'dumb' worked.

I tried to use both 32 and 64 bit versions. Files I tried are: gp530-20190430-win32-mingw_exe.zip and gp530-20190430-win64-mingw_exe.zip.

For reference, my OS is Windows 10, version 1803, build 15134.523.

Installing the v 5.27 from here worked.

Thanks for the report. I cannot reproduce a crash here using Tatsuro's binaries. Could you please provide more information? Which executable are you using - wgnuplot, gnuplot, wgnuplot_pipes? What are the exact commands that cause the crash? Do you have %APPDATA%\gnuplot.ini and/or %APPDATA%\wgnuplot.ini files (and what is their content)? How do you start gnuplot? Do qtor wxtterminals work?
(This may or may not be a DLL problem. This could be checked with a tool like http://dependencywalker.com/)
