Just a quick note: you can add PlotItems one after another in the
standard Gnuplot.py by calling Gnuplot.replot() with additional
arguments as documented in _Gnuplot.py.  If you want to store other
kinds of commands too (though I don't know why because other commands
are not cumulative) you could use the "filename=" argument to the
Gnuplot constructor.
