I suppose one has to ask directly people responsible for homebrew. Possibly this needs only a volunteer in the mac/homebrew/gdl_fan community. This feature request thread is more oriented towards new features to be implemented in gdl, not hpw gdl is distributed.

Actually, I don't think there is too much need to speak with homebrew admins or the like. Part of the the flexibility of homebrew comes from the fact that anyone can make a formula for installation of a tarball and request that it be pulled into the repository. It would brew great to have GDL in homebrew - it would probably start to see more of a user base as well, given how easy it would be to install (ideally).

Correct this is not a Hombrew issue but a feature request (or platform port request?) for any given project. I'd be happy to write the Homebrew formula if I could successfully build GDL under OS X. I have not been able to do so yet.

Ok that's clear and thanks for your involvement. There is some information in http://aramis.obspm.fr/~coulais/IDL_et_GDL/GDLonOSX_10.6.3.html (ok it's in french...).
Note that using the cvs version with Eigen and perhaps proj.4 would make a serious difference!

I did not manage to get OpenMP working though due to the complexity of getting g++ to use and link against clang's libc++. I would be grateful if someone could have a look at it...

Yes! that would be really nice. One more vote for homebrew

Ahem... sorry... above documentation is very old... As with plplot, GDL now ONLY uses CMAKE (even if some configure scripts are still there).
I opened a new bug about building from source on OS X. PLPLOT errors are stopping the compilation. https://sourceforge.net/p/gnudatalanguage/bugs/606/
Hi,
I submitted GDL to Homebrew: https://github.com/Homebrew/homebrew-science/pull/1905
I did not manage to get OpenMP working though due to the complexity of getting g++ to use and link against clang's libc++. I would be grateful if someone could have a look at it...
Just for those who find this thread via a google search (like me) you can now install GDL through homebrew.
brew install gnudatalanguage
I'm not sure if you have to tap science first (
brew tap homebrew/science
)Thanks for the work.
@Jesse: I didn't need to "tap". brew install gnudatalanguage did the trick.
