Furthermore, gnubiff can be more modularize, the whole project can be split into a server module which really do the mail check, interact with command line, and several client, e.g. gnubiff-gtk for gnome2/MATE user, gnubiff-gnome-shell for gnome 3 user, gnubiff-qt for KDE user etc.
