First, I use gnubiff 2.1.3 under gome 2.12 and like it
very much. Thank you for creating such great software.
Now, my suggestion: Would it be possible to make the
window showing the list of unread mails not to take the
input focus?
It can often be annoying if you're typing something
(e.g. coding something very concentratedely) and then a
new mail is detected by gnubiff, it pops up the mails
list window and immediately takes the focus away from
your active application. This forces you to stop
working for a few seconds until the mails list window
disappears again.
I thought that it should be possible to avoid the mails
list popup window to get the focus, by enabling it to
be shown on top of all other windows (I think there's a
window attribute for that) (and not giving it the focus).
My GUI programming experience is very limited yet, so
please forgive me if I got anything completely wrong here.

I am also unhappy with the current message list window
implementation.
Because the message list window is just a notification
popup, which disappears after a few seconds, it should be a
real popup. The current window has a button in the task bar
and steals focus.
Please change the window to a notification popup.

Could we make this configurable? I personally quite like the
input focus being stolen, as otherwise I might not notice
the popup at all.
