Greetings to all, I'm Kruznak, a new member of this mailing list. I've recently installed GNU-Darwin ppc 2.3 beta on my iMac G4 700 (iLamp) and I've stated that several devices, such as the video card and the internal modem, are not recognized after the installation and so, for example, the first time I tried to launch the X server the IOKit made the system freeze. To solve this problem I had to copy the kernel extensions of the NVIDIA GeForce 2 MX into the Extensions folder from the pre-existent MacOSX installation, and I had to repeat the same procedure for modem and PPP daemon too. Then I ask myself: "Why those kernel extensions were not included in the install cd? Are maybe not part of the GNU-Darwin project? And if so, how can Darwin be a real indipendent OS if the basic hardware is not supported?". The same questions I want to forward to you. Best regards Kruznak |
