GNU-Darwin.org has suffered as a result of a string of local electrical blackouts.
Although we have two good UPS units, we still lost one power supply and the main
hard drive of gd-shell-02.  These were obvious weak links, and it will be nice 
to have new hardware in these positions.  

Rebuilding gd-shell-02 is no trivial task, and it is fortunate that this 
occured while I happen to be on vacation from my day job for the holidays.
Mail and shell access are the affected services.

We had at least six blackouts, each of several hours duration over the course of the
past two days.  If the power source returns to stability, then I expect to have 
the down services restored later today or tomorrow.

As a result of this outage, everyone at gnu-darwin.org is without email service at
this time, including myself.   I am sending this message by rote means, and I 
will not be able to reply.  If you have an urgent need to access your files 
on the file server, this can be arranged, but you will have to contact me on my
cell phone.  Leave a message, and I will get back, to you as soon as possible.
