When I transfer a video from my PC to my Zen with Gnomad 2.9.1, Zen doesn't show its duration, just --:--:-- I am not able to seek through the video, either. The same video clip is fine when transferred on Windows with the default Creative software.

My tests show, that when transfering, Windows Software has to do some metainfo adding too, since copying demo movie, back and forth, renders it un-seekabel.
Tell me what, and I can try to do more tests.

Still no Idea what more can I make for the movie upload to work?

I also have the same problem....no seek and some sound/video synchronization problems. The converted videos are both searchable and in synch when on the computer but don't work after transfer with gnomad2.

I've heard the videos work fine when ran from an SD card so it's not the player but actually the transfer to the device.

Yes, as I said, it seesm that transfering videos need some additional data to work properly, it's clearly visible if you transfer any of demo videos from and to device.

I think the priority of this problem should be 7 instead of 5, since it is so cumbersome to get around it. I have to boot up Windows since I have not found any alternative for gnomad2 on Ubuntu.

Does anyone know who the maintainers are for gnomad2? While they ARE volunteers it would be nice to find out if there's any more info we can provide or other way to help out with resolving this.

Please log in when posting as this helps them contact you or at least see a bit of seriousness behind the request to fix a bug. 10 'anonymous' posts aren't going to mean as much as 10 with different names.

Maybe give mtpsync a try...uses the same library so I'm going to know tonight if this bug was really gnomad2 or libmtp. mtpsync sounds interesting as it literally just syncronizes the contents of certain folders to the zen...and a command line version might make this scriptable--->plug in zen and it syncs.

Ok, it seems to be a libmtp problem, not Gnomad2. I tried transferring videos to my player with mtpfs and had the same problem, videos won't seek. However, there's a new libmtp version 0.3.0, which likely has the problem fixed. The changelog says: "Recognize video files as tracks". But some of the functions in the libmtp library have changed (need more attributes) so frontends like Gnomad2 need some code changes to comply with the new libmtp. See http://libmtp.sourceforge.net/index.php?page=download for more details.

I found the same thing...exactly the same problem with both mtpfs and syncmtp...both based directly on libmtp, not gnomad2.

I'll probably wait until 0.3 tricks down through the repositories...I haven't had much luck lately with trying to swap in newer drivers (like for my wacom Bamboo touchpad <sigh>.

So we wait till Gnomad can support libmtp 0.3, and then we check how it works.

The problem is that Gnomad2 does not know the length of .avi files
    (in seconds).

This is a feature request, not a bug, sorry...

    Patches welcome.

    SHould work in 2.9.2!
I missed myself having actually implemented this.
