There is an immediate opening for a bioinformatics specialist in the KSU = Bioinformatics Center (http://www.bioinformatics.ksu.edu/web/index.htm) = supported by the NIH KINBRE. This person will collaborate with faculty = scientists in the application of bioinformatics/computational biology to = basic biological research. Additional responsibilities include teaching = bioinformatics and leading workshops. The initial appointment will be at = the senior research associate level with the potential for promotion to = research assistant professor. Requirements include a Ph.D. and = demonstrated accomplishments in bioinformatics or computational biology, = or in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology or developmental genetics = with a bioinformatics emphasis. Research experience at the postdoctoral = level (or equivalent) in bioinformatics/computational biology is = preferred. Relevant interests include: proteomics, genomics, gene = expression analysis, machine learning and database mining, relational = databases, molecular modeling, algorithm analysis and design, procedural = and object-oriented software-development . Current projects include = development of web-accessible databases for the Tribolium genome project = and lipidomics.
