has anyone tried writing an html stripper that tears out all tags but what
POD can handle?  it could leave <title>, <b>, <i>, and <li>, which could
be easily POD converted.  POD also has a mechanism for having display-mode
specific sections.  If you wanted to leave a table and an image reference 
in the POD that wouldn't interfere with a shell pager, it would look like 
this:

<table>...</table>
<img src="face.png"/>

=end html

=begin text

|     |
+-----+
