has anyone tried writing an html stripper that tears out all tags but what POD can handle? it could leave
, , , and
, which could be easily POD converted. POD also has a mechanism for having display-mode specific sections. If you wanted to leave a table and an image reference in the POD that wouldn't interfere with a shell pager, it would look like this: =begin html
...
=end html =begin text +-----+ | | +-----+ :) =end text -Allen On 22 Nov 2002, Scott Cain wrote: > Agreed, though in addition to html, the MGD people have several (>>10) > documents in pdf, so even if we wanted to standardize on html (which in > my mind is not a bad idea), the pdfs would still need to be converted. > While I've got a tool for doing that, it produces really ugly html. > > Scott > > On Fri, 2002-11-22 at 13:40, Lincoln Stein wrote: > > We can get the WormBase and Gramene folk to standardize on POD, but the MGD > > folks have produced thousands of pages of documentation in HTML and I don't > > think they're going to want to change. > > > > Lincoln > > > > On Saturday 16 November 2002 12:49 am, Allen Day wrote: > > > > I thought about it, but am not particularly keen on actually doing it. > > > > Clearly that is something that will need to be done eventually. > > > > Personally, html seems to me like the best candidate for SOPs though, > > > > since it would be (very) easy for users to install and use. > > > > > > Heh, no one wants to do it!
