Amazon Corretto JRE 8 is not enough for GloboNote in most cases. GloboNote typically depends on JavaFX, which is not bundled with Corretto JRE 8. That’s why it fails to run, even though the Java version matches. The menu that should appear when clicking on the program icon is not displayed, I noticed this right after the release of KDE 6 and I didn't see anyone talking about it so here I am. Because of this I can't manage my backups or even close the program properly, I have to close it through the process manager. this might need a port to KDE 6

Globonote requires a Java SE 8 and my corporate pc has Amazon Corretto JRE 8. But i am not able to run globonote with JRE 8. Is there any possiblity to run it with Amazon Corretto JRE 8? I am using any platform zip file as portable app.

hi Richard, some questions - when you say relaunched Windows means rebooted Windows? - After you run GloboNote.exe, do you see the icon in the task bar? - Can you check the globonote.log files? Default is under C:\Users\<username>.globonote. What errors does it show? - Globonote process sometimes show as java process, so normal if you don't see globo* process running</username>

Hi, I installed GloboNote yesterday (Win 10 Pro) . It worked well enough that I thought I may have found my goto note application after a long search. So, Day 1 was excellent. Second day - not so much. I relaunched Windows and right clicked on the system area's GloboNote icon and - nothing happened. Same with left click etc. Only "action" I could get was seeing the text "Loading GloboNote storage..." when I hovered over the icon. Hi, I have a problem with transparency of tray icon (picture attached). I've checked the graphic files in the Globonote.jar file and they are in png format and transparent. Even replace them with other, transparent substitutes but the problem has remained. Any idea how to sort it out? The tray belongs to XFCE desktop environment on Linux. Regards, Tom

Solved For the past week I've been trying to get the color back on my notes. the notes have all turned to white, but the border colors remain. I'm feeling like a "lost newbie", having tried out all possible(?) ways to color the notes.

Solved Am running Linux Mint,64b, using GloboNote,1.6,b53. I've setup a launcher on desktop,connects to: globonote.jar. However, it does not work. I also tried setting it up to start when I bootup, does not work. I have to go into my file mgr, open globonote directory, and click on globonote.jar, and then it opens. I would sure appreciate some advice on this. Thank you.

Thank you for the reply. I was using Nimbus, but after reading your reply, shifted to GTK+. The colors immediately restored upon my closing/reopening the program. Thank you again.

Tested this now and it definitely works for me. Despite Pin Em Up (also a Java app) starting fine, GloboNotes wants a script file. My GoloboNote is installed in /home/danie/GloboNote so just substitute with your own username or whatever path you used to install it: I created a text file called startglobo.sh in that directory. Just paste this inside the text file: 1 2 3#!/bin/bash cd "/home/danie/GloboNote/" java -jar GloboNote.jar Make the file executable. Add it now to the startup GUI and no need...

I seem to be having the same issue but only with GloboNotes. I also start up Pin Em Up which is also a Java app, and it's starting up fine as described above. I tried giving GloboNotes the full path too, but still no start up. It starts fine from menu, but not with auto start. I'll look further tomorrow and update here if I get a solution.

Hi, Wiliam, fair enough. I like the app a lot and have donated to the cause. :) If there's a chance you can add an auto-save feature or option (so db is updated either on lose of focus or at a timed interval) in the not to distant future, that would be great. (I'll be happy to donate more... ;)) I'm a bit nervious about losing content otherwise.

Hi Rick, I haven't tried to use Dropbox as repository location. But I think for this use case you will need to exit GloboNote to allow the changes to be saved in database files. Regards, William

Hi Rick, Select the text you want to highlight, then click the quick menu in control bar (https://globonote.info/help-support/users-manual/quick-start), you will see menu item highlight color. Select the color you want. Alternative way is to select the text then Ctrl-D (Change font) Regards, William

Hi, William, I have pointed the repository location to a Dropbox folder (on both macOS and Windows), and monitor for updates when editing notes. There's no file changes until the application is quit. Alternatively, if you make edits on one system (and ose focus), and open the app on the other, I'd expect to see the changes from the first system if they had been saved. That's not the case. Hi, I'm testing 1.6 (mostly on MacOS but also trying on Windows), and it appears that note content doesn't save unless you quit the program (contrary to an early comment I saw indicating save on lose of focus). Can you confirm this is the case? If so, any plans to add some auto save capability? I have concern that data/updates can be lost pretty easily. This could also help to facilitate a sync/sharing of common notes repo across systems. Otherwise, I'm loving the tool (tho haven't figured out how...

Hi, one option i can think is to put your GloboNote repository in a shared drive (ex. DropBox folder). All 3 computers can install GloboNote and point to that repository. But things to NOTE: 1. You should make sure only 1 GloboNote is accessing the repository at a time. You cannot have 3 computers access GloboNote repository at same time. 2. Shutdown GloboNote before switching to other machine 3. Make sure to backup your repository from time to time. I haven't tried this approach myself so not 100%...

Just came upon Globonote yesterday. I think it's great... Thank you Developers!!! I am NOT a technology person; I am a user of technology. Here's my need and desire... I use three (3) different computers: from home (an iMac); from work (a Dell PC); and traveling (a MacBook Air). Each has sufficient capacity and power. Globonote won't play a sound file on alarms. When I use the "test" button in the preferences tab it plays sound files, but on the alarm it doesn't play any sound file. Is there a way to fix this? I use Manjaro linux.

I would like to change the starting position because I have multi monitor setup and new notes open opens on the very first farthest to the left monitor, i would like to create new note under mouse or at least on the same screen as the mouse is currently in. Hi Knud, What is the version of java you are using? Have recently updated java to new version? Do you see errors in GloboNote logs? If you try to turn off borders (general preferences > appearance) does it solve the issue?

For some months I've been experiencing multiplied borders when I move a note from one place to another on the screen, using my Synaptics touchpad. It's very annoying as it often makes it impossible to read the text and makes the note cover the most of the screen. When I click somewhere else on the screen, the extra borders disappear. I'm using Windows 7 and the latest version of GloboNote. It wasn't an issue the first couple of years when using GloboNote. I sometimes use TurboNote, a now not updated...

Hi William, I discovered GloboNote a few days ago and I installed it on my Linux desktop (Ubuntu 16.04) because it won between the notes taking applications I've reviewed. It looks a nice piece of software, and I created a few notes. However, I have a problem. Since it is not using any cloud/remote push/pull, it will be cumbersome to sync my notes from home to the office. I tried Backup/Restore on the global menu, but it does not work (not showing up any submenu, just a small empty box, see attached)....

As I wrote, OpenSUSE 15. Anyway, I tried your suggestion, but fails at launch cause it need a library not included in the tar.gz Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: /home/PALACIO/1400/bin/GloboNote/jre1.8.0_181/lib/i386/libawt_xawt.so: libXtst.so.6: can not open file: File or folder doesn't exits And effectively, libXtst.so.6 file is NOT in the tar.gz file :(

Hi, What is your linux distro? I think you can have different version of java install in your system. try to download tar.gz package https://www.java.com/en/download/linux_manual.jsp Extract it to other path, and launch GloboNote using that version. ex. manually run <java8>/bin/java -jar GloboNote.jar</java8>

No way. I tried to install Java 10 (recommended option) and failed even following a tutorial by osradar (https://www.osradar.com/how-to-install-java-on-opensuse-15-leap/). Unfortunately, depends on Java is a problem in some cases. I use JDownlader (Java based) with OpenJDK without problems last years. Is there no way to get GloboNote to do so? Thank you
