I agree, Gerard Ziemski is THE MAN!!! I am a Mac OS developer and having gl4java working in OS X will help us out a lot. But I've got a question. In my simple programs and in the demos, I'm pretty sure it's not using any hardware acceleration. The framerate is really slow, fogging is not working, and GL RENDERER reports as "Generic". Is there anything special I have to do to get this to run in accelerated mode? I've got a G4 with an nVidia card. Thanks in advance. -Joe > well how cool is this ? way cool I say. > > just got it all working today. renders like a dream under X. way faster > and > cooler then I'v seen yet. you can scroll window over the java application > frame and nothing in the frame pauses. it as if it was all being rendered > in > the same place. very nice. > > very very very nice. > > oh anyone done a file loader yet ? love to see some code that loads 3dsmax > files or something like that (textures and all that). anyways gerard > ziemski > u are the man. thank u very much for doing the port, its great. > > tops.. to u all > > > aNt > |

I've updated MacOS X port of gl4java. You can now have multiple gl contexts per window (they're correctly placed now). Also, I cleaned the project and added two more demos (check out the GlassCube). You can find the updated version here <http://www.gerardziemski.com/files.html> Don't use StuffitExpander to decompress the file, use "tar -xvzf gl4java.tar.gz" from a terminal instead! cheers --- gerard ziemski gzi...@ma... http://www.gerardziemski.com |

well how cool is this ? way cool I say. just got it all working today. renders like a dream under X. way faster and cooler then I'v seen yet. you can scroll window over the java application frame and nothing in the frame pauses. it as if it was all being rendered in the same place. very nice. very very very nice. oh anyone done a file loader yet ? love to see some code that loads 3dsmax files or something like that (textures and all that). anyways gerard ziemski u are the man. thank u very much for doing the port, its great. tops.. to u all aNt |

I agree with Sven on that, I have no interest nor time to support MacOS 9 version myself. However, it would be easy for someone who really needs to bring it up to the newest version to do it themselves. btw. Added a link to my MacOS X port of gl4java to my home page <http://www.gerardziemski.com>. You can access the file directly now, without having to have your own iTools account. cheers On Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at 12:02 PM, gl4java-usergroup- re...@li... wrote: >> By the way, what's going on GL4Java for MacOS9 ? Hi, I the last release of Gl4Java, I'm using wglUseOutlinesFont. When my = computer has just freshly rebooted, my program works great : I have = several fonts on the screen with different colors. Now I stop the program and start it again. The color information is = suddenly crazy. I have to reboot the PC to retrieve a normal = behaviour. I'm using the Radeon 32 with the latest drivers. I have 2.4.1., but I noticed that the windows/Linux Version is up to 2.6! I have also noticed that the latest OpenGL for Mac (1.2.1) has some trouble with GL4Java. Things tend to slow down after a minute or two of running by 50%. Nothing is being dumped to the screen console, so I am not sure what is going on. The exact some code under OpenGL 1.1.2 does not show this... -- www.avxm.com |

Hello! Thanks for your advice. But now this is getting definitely weird. I have copied all *.dlls belonging to GL4Java to my \Windows\System32 directory. Most of the unsatisfied link errors have gone away, but one still remains: Sorry, can't find the library: GL4JavaJauGljJNI13 java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: C:\Program Files\JBuilder4\jdk1.3\jre\bin\GL4JavaJauGljJNI13.dll: One of the library files needed to run this application cannot be found GLCanvas could not load def. native libs. This is very strange because this DLL file (GL4JavaJauGljJNI13.dll) actually DOES exist in the directory displayed by the error, in C:\Windows\System32 and in some other directories. I don't know what else I could try. I have already copied all the Gl4Java-DLLs to a number of directories: - C:\jdk1.3\jre\bin - C:\Program Files\JavaSoft\JRE\1.3\bin - C:\Program Files\JavaSoft\JRE\1.3.0_01\bin - C:\Program Files\JBuilder4\jdk1.3\jre\bin - C:\Windows\System32 Moreover, I have set the Java VM parameter -Djava.libary.path to include the above directories. Nonetheless, GL4Java keeps complaining about missing DLLs although these files DO reside in those very directories... Jan > I had a similar problem. Hello everyone~ I'm developing 3d stuffs using gl4java, and I have a problem with version 2.6.0.0. In the current release, 3d app. using jdk1.3/bin/java.exe doesn't work. Because jawt.dll is in jdk1.3/jre/bin/, jdk1.3/bin/java.exe can't find it. Therefore I should execute it using jdk1.3/jre/java.exe or add the path of it to environment variable. Is it possible to solve it in another way? Regards ===================== Brian Youngseog Lee S/W Engineer Development 3 GOMID ===================== |

Is there a way to use GL4Java with an externally created window handle? For instance, if I used a native library to create a window + GL context, how can I pass that to gl4java.GLContext? My goal here is to completely divorce GL4Java from AWT, and use an external library (SDL) to handle the window and input-management functions. Can this be done? Thanks Steve |
