Hi all, First timer. I downloaded the required files (2.8.0.0) and worked my way around the jawt.dll bug/whatever. When I try to verify the install using the gl4java.GLContext -info command I keep fetting the following error: "problem in use() method" on the console a lot of these messages are appearing: GL4Java-JAWT: lock failed -> JAWT_LOCK_ERROR GL4Java ERROR: openOpen could not lock JAWT reference! could not open a GL widget -- GL CONTEXT can't create a GL context GLContext GLContext() failed any help would be appreciated in traking this problem down. - ShaneB ************************************************************************************* Caution - This e-mail and its contents contain privileged information that is intended solely for the recipient. [resend -- apologies for duplicates] JDK 1.4 contains a new set of buffer classes in the java.nio package which can describe memory that lives outside the Java garbage-collected heap. These "direct buffers" have uses in many types of applications where data throughput in to and out of the Java virtual machine implementation is the bottleneck. A demonstration which applies these java.nio direct buffers to the 3D graphics domain via OpenGL for Java is now available with both Java Web Start binaries as well as complete source code. http://java.sun.com/products/jfc/tsc/articles/jcanyon/ |

Hi *, why are so many methods final in gl4java? I want to override things like gljMakeCurrent() in GLContext but it's final. There are a lot of functions doing a lot of things before calling the native methods. It would be nice to a have a pure access to the native functions. ciao, Thorsten |

After upgrading from 2.6 to 2.7.2 I get a bunch of these messages upon startup: GLINFO: glColorTableEXT (3): not implemented! These functions should definitely be available, since they were available before I upgraded GL4Java. It is loading my OPENGL32.DLL library, according to the log. Any ideas? I am running Win2k. -Steve |

Bump-mapping is nVidia specific, right? You'd have to add the glCombiner...NV() functions (the NV-specific constants are in GL4Java, but not the NV-functions) Sven Goethel wrote: > > -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- > Hash: SHA1 > > On Wednesday 13 June 2001 18:06, Jean-Yves BRUD wrote: > > Hello, > > > > Is there any example in GL4 package using bump mapping ? > > > > Thanxs :-) > > ----------------- > > Jean-Yves BRUD - www.polyquark.com > > ----------------- > > is there a need for ? > > please gimme the GL extension number(s) ... > > cheers, sven > |

I used private SPI in my port of gl4java, so it is not very likely that someone else (outside of Apple) will be able to continue based on my work. I myself can not work on it, because I do not own my mac yet. I did the original port on my brother's PowerBook. There should be 3 .dll files - don't know them off the top of my head though. What IDE are you using (JBuilder, Together, NetBeans, ....?) The JNI .dll files actually may not be in the right place. I was using JBuilder and got the same error if the JNI files weren't in the JBuilder/JDK1.3/bin directory. I realize that if your classpath is set the linker should find the libraries but since it's not: I would play with the location of the .dll files. If there are multiple java distributions on your machine - try physically moving the gl4java .dlls to all the different bin/ directories and try recompiling each time. When in desperate times... Just something else you can try :) -=eric=- On 6/29/01 12:53 AM, "bm...@wo..." <bm...@wo...> wrote: > I am having problems in moving from 2.4.1.0 to 2.7.2.0 on windows nt > with jdk1.3.1. I am having problems in moving from 2.4.1.0 to 2.7.2.0 on windows nt with jdk1.3.1. I get the same problem if I use the precompiled libraries or build the libraries myself.
