Hey, I am really happy to see gl-117 getting updates, if still not officially. any plans related to that? I have a shot in the dark question. I have found a bug in the previous gl-117 v1.3: Arithmetic Error division by zero causing a crash of the game. I looked at the core dump and fixed the error. I looked at the v1.4 source code and found that the same bug still exists. Where do I report bugs for your 1.4 version or contribute bug fixes? I am relatively new to using repositories, but would still...

I've made a 1.4 release for Debian & Fedora which adds a couple more ChangeLog items: GUI aspect ratio is now constant; no more squashed text! Fixed a crash when the Demo mission ended. The next version is being ported to a small game engine using OpenGL 3 so improved graphics are in the works.

I've converted the CVS archive to Git and pushed it to Codeberg. There is a refactor branch which contains the year of work done by Thomas for version 2. Personally, I find the new directory layout a bit too hectic, so I just did some cleanup from a bit after the 1.3 release and created some Fedora RPMs on Copr. Here's the current ChangeLog entry for the changes: - Settings are now stored in ~/.config/gl-117 on UNIX. - Added "computa2.xm" music. - Added a Linux .desktop file. - Replaced Autoconf...

Hi! Just to announce that I just published a port of gl-117 for the Nintendo Wii: https://github.com/mardy/gl-117/releases It's very primitive, the menu on the screen are hard to click with the Wiimote, but it's playable. I don't know if it's just me being unused to flight simulators, but I find the plane quite hard to control; it may be that some parameters still need to be tweaked in order to play comfortably using the Wiimote's accelerometer. I might try to port LAC next. :-)

Update from Dec2023: Commencing in March and April of 2023, some of the most popular desktop LINUX distros began receiving updates that rendered all of gl117's menus unresponsive. Although the menu items are still displayed properly, no amount of clicking on them will yield any response. The same thing happened to Linux Air Combat, since LAC's menus were inherited from gl-117. LAC has been enhanced to overcome this problem, but gl-117 has not. Unfortunately I fear this may end gl-117's popular, legacy...

Update (04Oct2022): Linux Air Combat ("LAC") has continued development and now the current, stable, released version is 8.85. Source code allows easy compilation on all of the major desktop LINUX distros. Alternatively, an "AppImage" version is also available for immediate download and execution on all of the leading X86 Linux destros. Screen shots, video clips, forums, downloads, and other tools are available on SourceForge here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/linuxaircombat/

I am a big fan of gl-117. I'm strong on networking but NOT strong on graphics. I derived a new flight simulator, which I call "Linux Air Combat" from gl-117. As of this writing in Feb 2018, I've been at it for about 3 years, and I'm now on version 5.64. This has been an EXTENSIVE rewrite (not because the original had problems, but I wanted to go in a substantially different direction). Linux Air Combat ("LAC") emphasises SIMULATION and the "arcade" flavor of the original is gone. (The flight models...
