Paul, I am in the process of implementing the Git Delete action (GitRm), just don't want you to do duplicate works. It's getting there. The correct resources are being displayed on the UI, including deleted resources but not including renamed resources because GitStatus currently doesn't return those (I've filed a bug report). All that remains to get it functional is actually sending the files off to a commit command. I'm hoping that tonight/tomorrow I'll be able to finish that off, although there's some family stuff going on that may eat up some of my time. Gitclipsers, Apologies for not making it this week, something came up, and I have been unable to do much on this for about a week. Patrick - Excellent work on this. Also, yes to what James mentioned, we switched to the EPL so that we could import any subclipse code we felt was relevant. My plan is to look at this tonight and tomorrow, and try to sum up what still needs to get done, etc. I may implement move/delete if Andrew hasn't found time yet. Michelle - what is the status of commit? -Paul ----- Original Message ----- From: Patrick Winters <pat...@ny...> Date: Friday, July 25, 2008 1:17 am Subject: Re: [Gitclipse-devel] IResource adapters To: 'Gitclipse Devel' <git...@li...> > Sorry to spam with the build and my mail, but I figured this out. Hey All, I think to ensure the UI visibility is correct we need to define adapters for IResource types. The UI team menu is based on object contributions, when certain objects are selected (IResource, IFile, IFolder) then they are enabled and visible. We want to restrict that to only IGitResource, IGitFile, and IGitFolder. Has anybody taken a look into how the adapters and object contribution work in Subclipse? -- Patrick |

Hey All, I've got gitclipse auto-associating with projects that contain the meta file ".git/config". I created a test case that creates a new project, adds meta-info to it, refreshes, and asserts we are associated to it. In the process I introduced an abstract test case that can be used to manage project creation and deletion within tests. This way our programmatically created projects are created and deleted as to not leave remnants in the workspace between tests. This is in core.tests. -- Patrick |

Yes, we created a new project that wraps the javagit jar. You need to check it out. Flip through the mailing list archives. You'll need to package javagit and copy the jar into our javagit project directory. > -----Original Message----- > From: git...@li... I've found where the problem is, the id for the GitTeamProvider is ...........gitnature (in core plugin.xml), which I don't think is right, or at least it won't work for the moment. It needs to be ..............GitTeamProvider, I don't have the plugin.xml with me now and I can't remember the exact string, but you get the idea. Hey Michelle, I just committed the changes need for the javagit plug-in to be on the build. This breaks it, but we can fix it. build.local.properties needs one more thing, a property javagitJar specifies the full path. Its copied into the javagit plug-in project folder in the init target of the main build script. -- Patrick |

Han, You should register this address with the mailing list if you want to be able to post from it (you can disable receiving mail for the account so that you can post, but won't receive two copies.) Gitclipsers, I've been out sick today/yesturday with food poisoning, so I'm not going to make it to class tonight (I feel like a train ran over me.) I didn't finish the Delete/Move stuff because I was having problems getting the GitTeamProvider to work like Han was talking about. If he did indeed fix that, I should be able to finish it up. Keep me posted on any critical changes/going-ons since I won't be there. It looks like the extension point for GitTeamProvider moved to core, so the UI is no longer able to access the extension point. I will try to fix it and check it in. -- Han Chiu |

Has anyone else been having a problem getting the gitclipse plugins to associate themselves with projects? I don't seem to be able to associate or create/import new projects during a runtime test. All options seem to error out with different error messages. If I go from the Menu->Git->Init or Clone I get: "The chosen operation is not currently available" Import->Git->Clone The selected wizard could not be started. Plug-in edu.nyu.cs.gitclipse.ui was unable to load class edu.nyu.cs.gitclipse.ui.wizards.GitCloneWizard Import->Git->Import The selected wizard could not be started. Plug-in edu.nyu.cs.gitclipse.ui was unable to load class edu.nyu.cs.gitclipse.ui.wizards.GitImportWizard New->Git->Init The selected wizard could not be started. Plug-in edu.nyu.cs.gitclipse.ui was unable to load class edu.nyu.cs.gitclipse.ui.wizards.GitInitWizard Also, when running the plugin I get "out of memory" errors a lot. I don't get this when just running my standard eclipse, so it has to be related to the plugin. Does anyone else have this problem? -- Drew |

Gurdeep, Sorry I wasn't able to try it out sooner - I get home from work fairly late and ran into some unrelated problems building the project. I do see files register as modified now, but I'm still not getting exactly the expected response. Given the following git status output, I see 2 files come back as 'modified to commit' and 0 as 'modified not updated', rather than 1 and 1 as I would expect: **************************************************** # On branch master # Changes to be committed: # (use "git reset HEAD <file>..." to unstage) # # modified: src/Modified.java # deleted: src/Removed.java # deleted: src/RemovedNotStaged.java # # Changed but not updated: # (use "git add <file>..." to update what will be committed) # # modified: src/ModifiedNotStaged.java # # Untracked files: # (use "git add <file>..." to include in what will be committed) # # .classpath # .project # bin/ **************************************************** I'm going to go ahead and file this as a new bug report. When I do that though, the build breaks. I get the error 'Missing > required plug-in edu.nyu.cs.javagit_0.0.0'. Yes, we need to start building the javagit plug-in and it needs to be added as a dependency to our core plug-in. This happens in cruise control right? If this is happening in your IDE, I'm really not sure. I refrained from adding all of this, because the moment I commit it our build will break. We need to get the javagit jar going and decide on how to handle it. We should do this Tuesday don't you think? Have a good Sunday night. -- Patrick |

Hey javagit folks, When running the statusAll method on GitStatus I'm not getting back the expected result - a modified file is not being detected. Here's the output I get from actually running git status on the directory: # On branch master # Changed but not updated: # (use "git add <file>..." to update what will be committed) # # modified: src/hello.plugin # # Untracked files: # (use "git add <file>..." to include in what will be committed) # # .classpath # .project # bin/ The result that I get is that I have 3 untracked files (correct) but no modified files at all. I stepped through in debug and it looks like the method matchModifiedFilePattern in CliGitStatus is returning false when called with the line containing '# modified: src/hello.plugin'. Let me know if I can provide any additional info to help. Thanks, Michelle |

Okay, it turns out that on OS X (at least on 10.4) Java's exec doesn't actually look at your PATH variable. I'm not sure exactly which directories it *does* look at, but one of them is /usr/bin. So in this case sym linking the git executables into /usr/bin fixed the problem. James - this might be worth mentioning in an installation guide or faq somewhere, so I figured I'd pass it on to you also.
