And again there is a sort problem with the Snow Leopard version. Take a look at the screenshot. I downloaded the version today (file: GIMP-2.6.8-p2-Snow-Leopard.dmg). My Snow Leopard is Version 10.6.3 Build 10D573 on a MacBook Pro 15" Early 2008.
This is because you used the german umlaut "ß". If you try to avoid this character, everything should be sorted in correct lexicographical order.
Cruentl I don't know what is causing this misbehaviour with the german umlaut. The code used to do the sorting is just the same as on any other UNIX system. So if somebody has a Linux box up and running, he/she could test if GIMP on Linux will show the same sort order.
(I'll try to set up a Linux system in VirtualBox and will take a look it. .... )
