Once I installed Rosetta on my developer transition kit (basically a Mac mini with the A12 processor - about half the speed of the M1 systems now shipping) the existing (notarized) Intel package worked fine (and is plenty fast, even on this pre-production hardware).
For those playing along at home, the command to install Rosetta manually is:
softwareupdate --install-rosetta
We should probably put this on the web site until you have native ARM builds posted...

That's the S1245/E1, correct?
I think you're still the only one to do any meaningful testing on that
model.
On this cycle there haven't been any noteworthy backend changes specific
to the S1245, but some basic smoke testing would be valuable to make
sure there haven't been any noteworthy regressions due to the major
internal API changes in the backend.

The sole reason for purchasing now is exactly as Matt says, my build platform for Gutenprint. But since I have building on my old intel system I will also build on it. I expect a few hiccoughs on the Silicon system as I get the build figured out. I want to have something we can distribute for intel at least. I only have 2 printers to test on, my Sinfonia dye sub printer and my technically unsupported but seems to be fine, HP officejet pro 8610. I am wrapping up a very time consuming project, about to start on something I like a bunch more. It will leave me a little more freedom to work on outside projects like Gutenprint. |

Hi, Unfortunately, we don't have detailed specifications for this printer, but based on the general specifications, there's a good chance that an existing driver would work for this printer. Could you please do the following (it's not necessary to install the package for this to be done): 1) Print a test page -- this can be done from the front panel controls of the printer, although I don't know the exact menu options for this model. 2) Take a high resolution photo of the resulting printout (a close photograph with a phone should be good enough) and email it to me (off-list, please). The exact pattern of the lines will help me determine what printers might be compatible with it.
