I uploaded a build, universal for both Intel Macs and M1 Macs to Snapshots. I specifically need people to test Solomon’s drivers for libusb. I need information on installing also. I have NOT fixed the Snow Leopard 10.6 problem, believe I have fixed the 10.15 (Catalina) install problem. I also think I understand the 10.6 install problem. Mat and I have discussed it and I researched a bit. Seems the default Hash algorithm changed from SHA1 to SHA256. When signing I can pick the algorithm to use. I prefer to write off Snow Leopard and continue to build with the current algorithm but wish feedback from the community. Steve Letter, chief cook and bottle was he. |

My old iMac running High Sierra dramatically went kaput two weeks ago, and I had to order a new iMac. I doubt very much that my Epson Workforce 30 printer will work with Big Sur; in fact I’m pretty sure it won't. So, I have my fingers crossed that you’re developing a driver for Big Sur. Thank you for providing these drivers for our older printers! Bart Smyth • |

Dear Mrs. / Mr., I trust this email finds you well. I have purchased a Canon G3411 and I am not able to install it on my MacBook Air M1. Would you please assist me ? Looking forward to hearing from you. Kindest regards, Zayed |

Hello, I am wondering if there is support (driver) for Sharp AR-M155 with USB connector with Gutenprint or any compatible driver? I use Apple OS BigSur, Catalina and Mojave. Regards Hans Törnqvist |

Successfully built a Universal package on my M1 Mac. I had to package it on my x86 system due to bugs on the M1. It packaged well and signed fine. However, it failed to run properly on my Intel Mac running 10.14, Mojave but did on the M1 (natively). I am installing 10.15 and will try building on it to see if I can properly build a universal package on it. Steve Letter Sent from my Symbolics Lisp Machine using rmail. |

I am using the Gutenprint PPD that shows as an option when I add the printer in System Preferences. I tried editing the "escp2/model/base/pro_ultrachrome_k3v10.xml”, which is supposedly the correct file for the Pro 7900 and I tried rebooting and reconfiguring. I also tried the same with the other versions A and B of that same XML file. > Den 18. jan. 2021 kl. 18.23 skrev Robert Krawitz <rl...@al...>: > > On 1/18/21 11:38 AM, Ronald Jensen wrote: >> I made it work while testing at home with my small printer. >> >> But now I cannot seem to find the right XML for the Pro 7900 >> >> Mine has the SpectroProofer installed. It's possible despite this that they do in fact support PCL, so I'd suggest trying the generic PCL6/PCL XL driver on the off chance that it works, but I'm not optimistic. Please let us know either way whether it works (please reply-all rather than just reply). |

Dear Sir or Madam, HP Support has sent me to your site in the hopes I might find a driver to make it possible for my HP Deskjet F 2280 to work after I updated to Big Sur. Do you think you will be making a driver for this model? Many thanks, Lynne |

(please reply-all) To track down what you need to edit: I'm not sure where the .xml files live on OS X; on Linux they usually live in /usr/share/gutenprint/5.2/xml. Anyway, once you find those: * First, look for the model number in xml/printers/escp2.xml. You'll find this definition: <printer translate="name" name="Epson Stylus Pro 7900" deviceid="MFG:EPSON;CMD:ESCPL2,BDC,D4,D4PX;MDL:Stylus Pro 7900;CLS:PRINTER;DES:EPSON Stylus Pro 7900;" driver="escp2-7900" manufacturer="Epson" model="116" parameters="standard_params" /> That indicates that it's model 116. * Next, look in xml/escp2/models/model_116.xml. You'll find: <escp2Model id="116" base="escp2/model/base/pro_ultrachrome_k3v10.xml"> * So, look there: The important thing here is the inks: <inkGroup src="escp2/inks/pro_ultrachrome_k3v10.xml"/> Looking in that file, you'll find definitions like this: <subchannel color="0" subchannel="0" name="Black" text="Black" translate="text"> It looks like I also found the right channel numbers for orange and green: <subchannel color="10" name="Orange" text="Orange" translate="text"> and <subchannel color="11" name="Green" text="Green" translate="text"> So whichever physical channel you put the black in, replace the color="0" with color="10" (or 11) and do it for all of the definitions in that file.
