I upgraded to BG SUR before finding out it seems not to work with Brother MFC7360N printer- I get persistent erroneous “out of paper” message. And yet, on 1-2 occasions I have printed successfully- I can’t figure out why this happens when it does. Brother seems not to have a driver using OS 11.2.1 for this machine- or any OS 11drivers for it. MFC7360 seems not to support AIRPRINT. Does Gutenprint have any suggestions? AM I reluctantly forced to replace this perfectly functioning MFC machine? Always, no, sometimes think it’s me. But you know I know when it’s a dream. I think, er, no, I mean, er, “yes", but it’s all wrong. That is I think I disagree. Strawberry Fields Forever Si hortum in bibliotheca habes, nihil deerit. Hi, I have downloaded the latest Gutenbeg Driver for OSX, which works with Big Sur (although I understand it is not specifically designed for M1 Macs yet.) The printer settings do not give me access to any colour adjustment - only basic settings - I'm sure I'm making a simple mistake but help would be appreciated. Thanks Mark |

If I want to bring support for my L375: Where do I start? Could you give me a heads up? I am willing to read, learn, research whatever you throw to my hands. I've tried using the L375 telling my system that the printer is a L310 but I got blinking light but no actual printing. That's as far as I got, and believed that ESC/P-R was the culprit. Thanks for your time! Right? Many if not all printers (at least those based on 360 DPI vs. 300 DPI) that support ESCP/R also support ESC/P2. I have a L375, It does have the same printhead as L310, but L375 and modern EPSON L-Series uses ESC/P-R instead of ESC/P2. I believe that is why it is not supported by Gutenprint. Right? Historically -- and I haven't checked the specs -- there isn't a lot of functional change between printer engines; it's usually ancillary features that are changed, or even just refreshed. But Epson doesn't publish detailed specs as much, so short of buying one it might be hard for me to determine. |

I am curious about this as well, Did you use WinGP (Gutenprint Windows Port by Dickobraz) ? I believe it is the only Windows port available. It is quite old, circa 2010, and have not been updated. However, there is no official gutenprint ported to Windows as far as I know. So I guess you are using an unofficial and possibly old port someone else built? I would defer to others with more experience, but I would say if you are using Windows, use the Windows driver from Canon, that is the official best way to use the printer's capabilities. Drivers are available from Windows 2000 all the way up to Windows 10. In any case, to explain about gutenprint for future reference, the resolution is a "mode" not a number. So it is something like "600x600 DPI Standard" or "600x600 DPI HIGH (GLOSSY PHOTO PAPER)" for example. The printhead resolution is only 600x600 dpi. Multiple passes and fancy ink jet algorithms are used to give the appearance of a higher "effective resolution" which is what the manufacturers put on their brochures. Hello, I am looking into investing in a RIP, etc., to use an EcoTank printer for monochrome using carbon inksets. All of the EcoTank printers on the 5.3.3 list have been replaced, many with similar model numbers. I am willing to take some risks here, but wondered if how model-dependent the support is, i.e., is there a reasonable chance support for the 2700 and/or 2750 would work for the current 2720 or 2760? I understand that you probably cannot be definitive in your answers. Thanks so much, John |

Hello : ) finally I managed to get GP running on Win7-64 Gimp! How I can use icm printerprofiles with Gutenprint. I cannot click on the icm tab? My Canon IP 4700 has usually 2400 dpi, with GP only 600 x 600? Gimp print with the windows driver but in GP nothing happen, what is the correct setting? Thank you in advance, Nutan |

I was thinking of doing a separate graphical application that edits the XML for that purpose. It is a very common issue on these EPSON large format printers. I've read in numerous forums that Green or Orange channels clog up. I believe if we document (outside Gutenprint but using Gutenprint, to not disturb the project) and make an easy solution we could save printers from going to waste. It really would be a pretty cool feature to allow for Channel remap changes right in the PPD . . . To print 6 colors on EPSON Stylus Pro 7890 I need to use <InkName translate="text" name="PhotoCMYK" text="Six Color Photo" InkID="CcMmYK"> To swap the Ink Channels on 7890 we need to modify the pro_ultrachrome_k3v.xml file. If I want to change the Yellow Color to Light Black I would need to change: <channel name="standard_yellow" index="3"> <HueCurveParam name="YellowHueCurve"/> <subchannel color="4" name="Yellow" text="Yellow" translate="text"> <ChannelDensityParam name="YellowDensity"/> </subchannel> </channel> To: <channel name="standard_yellow" index="3"> <HueCurveParam name="YellowHueCurve"/> <subchannel color="0" subchannel="1" name="Yellow" text="Yellow" translate="text"> <ChannelDensityParam name="YellowDensity"/> </subchannel> </channel> The color is the low 4 bits of the hex value; the subchannel is the high 4 bits. So LightBlack has a hex value of 0x10 and Yellow has a hex value of 0x28. Well, That is in theory. I have searched this mailing list for all the bits I could find about this. Is this right? I am missing something? I could not test it yet because I do not have all the inks on the printer, I am waiting for them to be delivered. Meanwhile I am learning as much as I can from Gutenprint. I am trying to gather information as much as I can. When I finish this I will try to write a tutorial of sorts because this topic seems to surface from time to time in the mailing list. Thanks for your patience and good work! I have a 7890 (same as 7900 but with 8 colors instead of 10: no Orange, no Green channels). I have a busted Yellow Channel, and possibly the LLK as well. It is possible to make it print in 6 colors? Like CcMmYK ? I could reorder the channels as described in this thread, but, How to make it behave like a 6 color printer? Thanks! |

Probably you can find information in the manual on how to perform operations directly from the printer, if they are supported. For example, cleaning print head: https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART166853 Nozzle check: https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART166850 Here is a link to a manual download (no guarantees, use at own risk): https://guidesmanuals.com/canon-g1200-manual-printer-download/ Otherwise you might get a quicker result by attaching the printer to a Mac or Windows machine, and using the driver's maintenance functionality. Hello! I would like to ask how do you perform ink flush on my printer? It is printing inconsistently. Thank you! |

Hello Joel, I think you are out of luck, I looked up the PSC 1210 and 1200 printers, could not find specs for the 1217 but it seems it could be the same family. These printers do not use PCL, instead they support a LIDIL, which is basically host-based printing. These types of printer are not supported by gutenprint. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightweight_Imaging_Device_Interface_Language Reference: https://encyclopedia2.thefreedictionary.com/host-based+printing host-based printing A printing system that relies entirely on the host computer to perform all the printer processing. The computer's CPU rasterizes the data, which creates the bitmaps of the printed pages. It also sends commands directly to the print heads. Many inexpensive inkjet printers are host-based printers designed for the Windows Printing System (see GDI printer). Best regards, Gernot Hassenpflug |

Dear Gimp-print team, I just installed Gutenprint on my Mac. Unfortunately the hp psc 1217 printer is not supported. Are you currently working on a driver supporting printers from the psc 1200 series any time soon? If not, do you know any alternative I could try? Thanks in advance. Even though Gutenprint might not work out in my case, I think its a great idea! Regards Joel Bose |
