Hey,

Thanks so much for the work you do with Gutenprint! I've purchased a Canon
G3610 then realised that I can't use it with my Mac and have opened and set
it up so I can't take it back,
I've been trying for a while to set up using 5.3.4 but can't seem to get it
working is it because this OS or printer isn't supported or am I just doing
something wrong?

The Datamax-O'Neil M-4208 Barcode Label Printer works with Datamax-ONeil H4408 Cups-gp settings on Mac 12.1 without any problems. Maybe add its own Settings in the driver?

The HP Envy 4520 uses a command language that is not supported by Gutenprint.  The HP site does have drivers for macos 12 Monterey.

Hello.  I have an HP ENVY 4520 Printer.  I recently updated my Mac to OS Monterey version 12.1.  Now the printer won't work.  I didn't see my printer on your list.  Am I missing something?  My Mac has the M1 chip.  Any advice would be appreciated.

You could try the Gutenprint Printer Application. It is version 5.3.4 
whereas the Debian package in the newest released Ubuntu is 5.3.3.

To do so, uninstall the printer-driver-gutenprint package and remove 
your print queue. Then install the Gutenprint Printer Application from

Via command line you can install it with the command

sudo snap install --edge gutenprint-printer-app

Then follow the instructions on

https://snapcraft.io/gutenprint-printer-app

Hi,
I'm having insurmountable problems getting my new P900 printer to work 
with Ubuntu. The other drivers for SC-Pxxx and SC-Pxxxx don't seem to 
recognise the right paper source and I'm not convinced I'm getting all 
the quality options. I haven't tried all options but I'd be grateful if 
you could point me to one that might work, or give me some idea if you 
have an updated driver in the pipeline. Thanks

What exactly are you trying to accomplish?  Why are you trying to modify the head configuration?

Can you tell me where in sources I can make modification to send dummy data
for half pass to printhead?

Running versions;
Linux Mint 20.2 64 bit
gutenprint 5.3.3-4
cups 2.3.1-9ubuntu1.1
 all loaded via software manager of Linux Mint 20.2

Limited command line vocab, trying to use up my supplies on this
unsupported and no more materials available for dye-sub printer, Win11
laptop would not see it so went to my Linux system to try.

Prints but I am having issues with Sony up-dr150, it will print 1 print
during which it indicates an error "printer not enabled" so correct in gui
Printers - localhost and can do again and same result.  Under Printer
Properties gui shows Device Url as gutenprint53usb://sony-updr150/00702035
(no + noted, had to copy and rename file as that is how it installed itself
and I seem unable to rename that field in the gui).

Any advice appreciated ?

I suspect the problem here is that the version of Gutenprint you are 
using is outdated -- about two years ago we fixed a long-standing bug in 
the dyesub gamma correction code but I don't believe that this fix has 
shipped in any Raspbian OS version.

These instructions should suffice for rebuilding Gutenprint on a RPi:

 (Since you're using an RX1, you can stop after the 'service cups restart' 
  step in those instructions)

Once you have that updated version installed, make sure the 'Legacy 
Dyesub gamma curve" option is set to False (double-check in the CUPS 
user interface) -- Then the color output will be indistinguishable from 
Windows. Note that you will still need to use DNP's provided ICC profile 
with profile-aware image processing/printing flows in order to get the 
best results.

The "Generic PCL 6 LF Printer wide margin" might work for you. It may not have all the features of the Sharp driver. Someone else may know if one of the other Sharp printers Gutenprint lists might work better. Gutenprint only supports the printer function of multifunctional devices.  For the copier part of the printer, you could try Apple's Image Capture application included with the operating system.  There are several third party scanner applications (they cost money).  I like and use VueScan.  Not an endorsement, just a happy customer.

Let us know if the Generic PCL LF Printer driver works for you. If it works, we will probably add the printer to the list of printer Gutenprint supports.

I have a Sharp AR-M355N printer that does not provide a driver for the newest macOS versions and I was wondering if you would be able to add support for it in Gutenprint.

Was there something in particular that wasn't working?  Perhaps there wasn't a driver for your printer?

There is an Uninstall Gutenprint application on the disk image that has the installer.  You will manually have to remove any printers you created.

I am a relatively new owner of a DNP DS-RX1HS printer. I've been using it
for about six months with all printing via Windows 10. Now, I am trying to
add some automation to my workflow, and I set up a print server on a
raspberry pi using CUPS/Gutenprint. Unfortunately, the color of the 4x6
prints differs between Windows 10 and CUPS via raspberry pi. I'm using
default configurations of each.

At first, it seemed that the prints from CUPS/Gutenprint were faded. The
colors didn't have the same pop as when printed on Windows. However, I
think there is a bit of a red shift distorting the color. Everything I
print via CUPS has the same issue. I don't see a specific CUPS driver on
the DNP support page nor any further documentation on the settings
available to me in the CUPS settings for the printer. I tried a few
different settings (default type = photograph, best color, RGB vs CMYK
mode) without much success. It doesn't seem to matter whether it is an
image from Illustrator, a photobooth collage from Wifibooth, or a snapshot
from an iPhone, all of the prints suffer from a color problem when printed
to the RX1HS over CUPS/AirPrint on raspberry pi connected via USB. The same
files print great when using the regular Windows 10 driver and direct USB
connection. Unfortunately, I need Airprint to work for my photobooth
(currently Wifibooth).

For better or worse, I have a photobooth event soon and it seems I have to
choose between a) no automation with Windows and better color, or b)
automated printing via CUPS/Gutenprint with poor color.

Please send recommendations for further troubleshooting and/or resolution.

When you connect directly to the Mac, are you doing so via USB, and
what driver are you using on the Mac where you say it is working fine?

Cable.
I use a MacBookPro 2010 with High Sierra.
I got it to "kind-of" working with your drivers...but the printer is 
"printing" but only a white page will come out.
If I plug in my macbook directly with the printer its printing normal.
I tried it with Canon MX490 series CUPS+Gutenprint v 5.3.3.
and Canon Pixma MX495 CUPS+Gutenprint v 5.3.3.
Do you have any solution to the problem?
