I have an Intel Mac and just upgraded to Snow Leopard OS. Both my
printers (HP Deskjet 970 Cxi and HP Photosmart D3760) did not work but I
installed the most recent Gutenprint for Mac OS and they work again (I can
even access the supply amounts for the Deskjet that I could not before
under the Mac driver). Only problem is the HP Deskjet 970 Cxi has a
twosided printing add-on that is not supported in the Gutenprint driver (it
supports only the generic HP Deskjet 970C). Is it possible Two-sided
printing for an HP Deskjet 970 Cxi can be added in a future release? FYI
- the two-sided option was not indicated in the printer/fax dialog options
for the respective driver. Thanks! Mark C
This is a feature request (for duplex support for the 970Cxi) that has nothing to do with OS X. Reassigning. Unfortunately, we currently have no one to work on the PCL driver.
In the meantime you can try the HPIJS drivers from OpenPrinting <http://www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/openprinting/macosx/hpijs>. I believe they support duplex printing.
You can keep the Gutenprint drivers installed along with the HPIJS drivers and choose the best driver for a particular print job.
