Does your kernel version (type "uname -r" in some shell) match the version the package was compiled for (2.6.5-7.95-default)? If not, you should either update your kernel (e.g. using you) or compile the driver from the sources.

kernel version is 2.6.4-52-default. i found an pre-released rpm-pack for this kernel version which works fine (but much debug output ... i dont know how to disable this part ... but it works!!!).
thanx for your support. next to do is to get the kernel-update and reinstall the gigaset_hw_4 pack.
thanx for your help, marty

Hmmm, there should not be _much_ debug output... If you have one of these more recent devices, you could find some warnings like
gigaset_process_response: resp_code -4 in ConState 130!
in the log, though. This is not a real problem, but will be fixed soon.
If you really want to disable debug output (which is not good for solving possible problems -- this is still beta software), have a look at the second half of section 5.2. of the README file. As SuSE user you only need to execute gigasetconfig to set the debug level and restart the driver.

Thanx to the developers for their great work!!!
My Problem: After updating SuSe 9.0 to 9.1. and installing gigaset_hw_0_4 i've got the errormessage at start:
contr0FATAL: Modules usb_gigaset not found
I've installed the suse91-gigaset4-rpm-pack.
On the "old" suse90-system with the gigaset_hw_0_3_4 it works perfect!
