#1 warnings about fonts with missing chars

when a font is selected that doesn't have
characters at the positions for displaying
the "big mean fox screws over the dumb dog"
string, a flurry of warning dialogs pop up
complaining that the image can't be displayed.

this is the case with a lot of "expert" fonts
containing only ligatures, alternates, or
swashes and such.

Yes, I agree it is an error. The next version (based on
Freetype2) will not work in the same way, so it will not
have the error. I cannot make any update into the Freetype1
line for lack of time, sorry.
