It's a minor thing but the annoying factor can be rather bad. I installed GExperts as Administrator (on WinXP) but as normal user I don't have write access to the installation dir (C:\Programme\GExperts). IMHO all storage paths should default to somewhere below AppData instead of ProgramFiles, takes quite some time to find all settings that still reference read- only dirs and some subtle problems occur because of unnoticed failed writes (i.e. ProjectOptionSets can't save anything but remains silent about this) Thanks alot, -Malte ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=366240&aid=602641&group_id=16240 |

This seems to happen with all shortcuts one can set there. Sometimes Delphi freezes after the exception and I have to kill the process (not always reproducable). However, sometimes the shortcut is changed and I can use it after starting Delphi again (and sometimes not, not always reproducable). Jens ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Erik Berry (eberry) Date: 2004-06-14 21:32 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=534 The best thing to do is download and temporarily use a debug DLL/MAP file (back up your old DLL first) such as: http://www.gexperts.org/files/beta/GExpertsD5.zip Then, use the IDE until you get the exception and then post the generated *.debuglog lines to get a stack trace and other exception details. By the way, we don't generally use this SourceForge bug tracker, so it is best to submit bugs using the wizard in the GExperts about box. This has the advantage of including details such as your OS version, exact IDE version/edition, and other installed tools in the bug report. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=116240&aid=972605&group_id=16240 |

Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. With many thanks for your participation, Benno Luthiger PS: The results of the survey will be published under http://www.isu.unizh.ch/fuehrung/blprojects/FASD/. We have set up the mailing list fa...@we... for this study. Please see http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/mailinglist_de.html for registration to this mailing list. _______________________________________________________________________ Benno Luthiger Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich 8092 Zurich Mail: benno.luthiger(at)id.ethz.ch _______________________________________________________________________ |

Try with the latest GExperts 1.2 Beta 1 binary releases. With that release, the Delphi 5 GDebug.exe shows on startup with that option checked, and does not show with that option unchecked. Also, it shows on new messages only when that option is checked. If you are still seeing the problem, you might need to debug into the source after compiling to find the cause, since it doesn't happen here under Windows XP Pro here, and I haven't had other reports of such failures. Also, be sure you have write access to the registry keys it tries to write to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GExperts ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Oliver Giesen (ogiesen) Date: 2004-03-10 08:31 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=158827 BTW: Using Delphi 5 Ent and compiling GExperts straight from CVS. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=116240&aid=913507&group_id=16240 |

Example: To type a "left bracket", I have to type <ALT GR>+<8>. This is wrong and does not match the keyboard layout I am using ("swiss german" layout). Disabling "IDE Menu Shortcuts" in the configuration is a workaround (and fine for me, as I don't use this option!). Reported under German Windows 2000 Professional with the swiss german keyboard layout. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Erik Berry (eberry) Date: 2001-03-16 00:43 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=534 Daniel seems to indicate this is a false alarm. If you agree, feel free to mark this as fixed/closed. Now everything works fine! I can activate the "IDE Menu Shortcuts" Option and it integrates smoothly with my swiss german environment. I can describe what I did yesterday: Install GEXPERTS, no other Win32 apps were running (and especially no Delphi 5! <g>) Start Delphi 5 and open the project I'm workin' on. Enjoyed the new GEXPERTS menu and slightly customized the configuration. Continued coding until I found out that the <ALT GR> keys were messed up. It was only the <ALT-GR> layout, I think it matched the US mapping but it definitely did not follow the swiss german layout. In Delphi 5, I called the "Gexperts Configuration..." and unchecked the "IDE Menu Shortcuts"-option -> <ALT-GR> mapping ok. Checked the "IDE Menu Shortcuts"-option -> <ALT-GR> mapping not ok. But today I can't reproduce this problem!! Maybe the reboot did the job! Maybe it's an install issue (and maybe on Win2000). That's all I can say. I will try to install it on another machine and tell you the results. Right now everything runs perfect... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=116240&aid=408940&group_id=16240 |

---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=116240&aid=408940&group_id=16240 |

The result can range from "harmless" AVs to a complete disappearance of the IDE. The cause is unknown, but it is under investigation. Debug statements have been sprinkled throughout the relevant code to make this issue easier to track down. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Erik Berry Date: 2001-03-05 11:34 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=534 Fixed Feb 25, 2001 by a merge of 1.0 fixes ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Erik Berry Date: 2001-02-16 07:04 Message: Fixed in version 1.0 source.
