I'm sorry but this is a bit off topic for this particular thread. Merging
those requests isn't going to happen until we've got the git branches
worked out from having turned 1.6 into 1.5.1.

Could you perhaps start a thread (or two, one for each) to describe what
you're trying to accomplish in more detail, so we can hash it out.  As it
stands the first seems like a bit of a stop gap compared to a more robust
clustering mechanism, while the second seems like might be extending a bit
beyond GWCs area of competency to something a separate tool might do
better.   That's not saying they aren't appropriate but I think it bears a
bit more input from the community.
