Hi, I'm a new GeoWebCache user, and I'm looking to find out how to configure and tweak performance. The dataset I have is relatively static - I anticipate the tiles could easily remain in the cache for months at a stretch between refreshes. The first question is, how do I (or can I) set how long GeoWebCache will maintain its serverside set of tiles? I'm curious about tips on how to tweak my configuration to best optimize the amount of storage required versus perception of performance. Second question is, how do I control caching behavior on clients requesting my tiles? I notice they come in from GWC set to "Expires Thu 01 Jan 1970 00:00:00" - already expired, and presumably forcing a new request every time? When I do set caching in GeoServer, that gets reflected in a "max-age=nnnnnn" with nnnnnn set to how many seconds I plugged in, but it still has 01 Jan 1970 for its expiration date. Is there any way I can set that expiration date to today or otherwise control it? In comparison, I see Virtual Earth to have max-age=31536000 and expires set to Thu 02 Jul 2008 14:15 GMT (today).
