[Geotools-devel] Should a filter with an invalid geometry work?

If a user passes in a filter with an invalid geometry literal in it should
they get a valid result back or an exception?

If you try 'intersects(the_geom , POLYGON ((-88.26396314147442
40.815073720097324, -77.98806686335618 36.57353355423575,
-77.68197633592288 40.98998259291636, -87.91414539583636 36.57353355423575,
-88.26396314147442 40.815073720097324)))' against the states layer for
example the result is as shown.

where the filter is yellow and the result is brown(ish).
