[Geotools-devel] Wondering about literal parsing in filter

Hi,
I'm looking at https://osgeo-org.atlassian.net/browse/GEOS-7540 and believe
I've found some skeleton
in the closet....

Basically both ExpressionSAXParser and ExpressionDOMParser try to force a
literal to a int or a double
before treating it as a literal.... blindly.
The thing is, those parser do not have context to decide if something is a
number, and the in memory
filter evaluation, as well as the encoders, should be able to handle a
string comparison against
a numeric property.

Am I missing something here? Imho the code trying to cast to a number
should just be removed
