[Geotools-gt2-users] No way to find out which attribute is identifying the feature?

I am doing a task to automate a navigation through various data sources and
for that I need to highlight which attribute for a feature type is
identifying the features of this type. For a fetched entry I can get FID,
but I still can't get which attribute was used to generate the FID.

Making external configuration is an option, but it fails to ensure
consistency in case the data source changes and it's kind of workaround. It
would be great to have a kind of getIdentifierAttribute in the Feature
interface or some derivative of Attribute interface for that.

Would an API change for a Feature interface be possible or are there any
other possibilities?
