Hi all, In preparation for the git switch i have been looking at how commit notifications will work. There seems to be a post commit hook available that will send email to a mailing list of choice. Looks promising. I have been looking at how to try and integrate this with our existing commit mailing list I don;t seem to have any access to that mailing list and i am not sure how it is configured with respect to svn. So I propose setting up a separate email list (a google group) for the switch. Any objections? For now I have set up a google group here: https://groups.google.com/group/geotools-commits/ The idea is that committers will sign up to this list in order to both send emails to the list (via github) and receive notifications of commits. One of the nice features of the github service hook is the ability to send the email from the original commit author. Which is a nice feature that we currently don't have with our svn list. For this to work properly you will have to sign up with the same email address that your git client is configured with. Those committers who aren't interested in receiving email notification don't have to sign up. But the emails sent from github will have to be whitelisted by the group moderators. Let me know that you think. -Justin -- Justin Deoliveira OpenGeo - http://opengeo.org Enterprise support for open source geospatial. |
