[Geotools-gt2-users] reading & rendering dem & dted files

Hi all,
We just started to use GeoTools for a school project , so I'm a newbie to GeoTools:)) I  wrote codes to read & render shape files , there are lots of documentation about processing shape files with GeoTools but none about dem and dted files:)) I also learned that dted & dem formats are recently added to the GeoTools  , saw some plugin stuff.Well , anyone show me a way to process ( read & render ) dem and dted files??(actually at least which methods/libraries/jars to start with) Any help will be appreciated , thanx:))
