[Geotools-gt2-users] Coordinate Transformation Question

Hello All,
I have a project that creates shapefiles and works like a gem with just simple xy coordinates.  What I need is to take latitude/longitude (or I can transform to decimal points) and create the shapefile using them.  Could someone lay out the path or some simple code that I would take in order to accomplish this.
