Gabriel was not available; but David Windslow was. We closed out the 
GeoAPI bug on this subject; and updated FeatureStore.addFeatures( ... ) 
to return a List<FeatureId>.

There was one bug introduced by this change (postgis versioned failed a 
geoserver test) which was patched here:

I was also able to clean up a lot of the FeatureCollection 
implementations over the weekend; I have updated Justin's proposal on 
the subject here ... the tasks that can be sensibly performed for 2.5.x 
have been accomplished.
