The question was, do we change the factories to allow the construction of a a generic UI for listing possible symbols? Hmm... you have a point there. If the SLD uses feature attributes, it may become quite difficult to automatically build a legend for the map. Having the factory generate a generic symbol can probably go a long way in helping to build a legend and otherwise help the UI to show something off the factory. Jody, what do you think?
