Hi Saul, I agree that the current feature collection model is a bit confusing. But you seem to have it right. getFeatureType() is the type of the feature collection itself, because a FeatureCollection is an extension of Feature. And getSchema() is the feature type of the "members" of the feature collection. Currently most of our implementations dont really utilize the fact that feature collections are features and can have attributes themselves. But an example would be say a wfs feature collection, which if modeled would have a "bounds" property, a "featureMembers" property, etc... -Justin Farber, Saul (ENV) wrote: > Hey all, > > I just ran into a problem which I eventually solved by relying on FeatureCollection.getSchema() vs .getFeatureType(). > > I read the javadocs on the two methods here: > http://udig.refractions.net/docs/api-geotools/ <http://udig.refractions.net/docs/api-geotools/> > > However I'm still pretty confused about what, exactly, the difference is, or is supposed to be. > > getFeatureType() is supposed to describe the actual featurecollection itself, while getSchema is supposed to describe the schema of the constituent features? What different kinds of FeatureCollections are there, that they would need to be described by getFeatureType()? > > Just curious! > --saul > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express > Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take > control of your XML.
