So listening in on IRC andrea has made it as far as the javadocs - the 
releaes process for 2.2.x differs from trunk (it uses our own custom 
plugin http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOT/2.6+Generating+Javadoc).

I think Cory and Andrea started trying to move 2.2.x to use the normal 
maven javadoc:javadoc target ... but I am not sure how far they got.

It was also unclear on the instruction page why the javadocs were to be 
generated from 2.2.x (rather then the 2.2.1 tag that had been created by 
this point in the release process). So if anybody knows please speak up.
