I've been puttering away at this, this week and wee bits over the month 
(guess i should commit).  The plan is to merge in my changes for 2.1-M1 
(they are safely off on a branch until finished).  Do we really want 
geotools to use a snapshot, or do you mean -M0?  If it is a snapshot, 
let's deploy a timestamped jar to the repo :)
