[Geotools-devel] Logging in GeoTools/GeoWidgets

Hi developers,

I am currently trying to build up a framework of "utility" classes that are
needed by the GeoWidgets I try to develop. One of these aspects is logging.

I've seen that GeoTools comes with the "log4j" library, so I assume that it is
somehow used. However in your develeoper's guide
(http://geotools.codehaus.org/Logging) I only find the use of the
java.util.logging API explained.

Can someone please tell me which API you use in which cases and why you chose
the one you use (e.g. advantages/disadvantages)?
