[Geotools-gt2-users] Create a fishnet polygon shapefile and convert it to a tiff file

Hi:

I am new to the tool.  Could someone tell me whether I can create a 
fishnet polygon shapefile (such as 12km grids) and convert it to a tiff 
file using Geotools?
