My current workflow with Corel AfterShot Pro generates XMP files like so...

IMG_1179.CR2
IMG_1179.CR2.xmp

Geotag seems to only search for files that don't include the .CR2 extension, and thusly I get two xmp files, the geotagged one AfterShot Pro really doesn't care about...

IMG_1179.CR2
IMG_1179.CR2.xmp
IMG_1179.xmp

Adding a wild card to the additional XMP files didn't help.

Darktable would also benefit from this as it uses the same .ext.xmp format
