Claus, I doubt it's an endianness problem, as at that point things would be much more wrong. SaVi's vector map wireframe is drawn above (outside) the Earth sphere and surface/coverage texturemap, once I realised I could do that for better results than a pixelated continents map within the texturemap itself. It just happens to be a good check that texturemap rendering is done right and lines up properly, exposing this bug, which would be slightly less obvious otherwise. (Understanding d3.js and its mapping to generate better maps and masks for SaVi is long on my todo list.) I would quite like to draw a slightly translucent coverage texturemap sphere around an inner solid Earth rendering, but since texturemapping doesn't (yet?) support translucency, I can't see that happening. (SaVi's coverage map did support an unused alpha channel, way back when - that was just wasting memory.) Possibly related: bugs in X rendering (or geomview?) in e.g. the SaVi logo in the camera viewport being drawn upside down on Solaris as opposed to the Irix in use at the Geometry Center, and the original SaVi tested for specific geomview versions to display an inverted SaVi logo that looked right. See buggy_geomview code in http://savi.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/savi/savi-dev/src/gv_init.c?revision=1.1&view=markupWhether using IrixGL or OpenGL might matter? Is it possible to get a snippet of Geomview input which generates the textured sphere? I suppose that the wireframe as well as the colouring of the continent is generated by 2 different textures, which different mappings of texture coordinates?
