The energy loss in a Si detector should be taken into account in the fit.

I do not understand this request. The energy loss is taken into account. Only when one explicitly calls setEnergyLossBetheBloch(false) or setNoEffects(false) the energy loss will be switch off in the fitter. Or am I missing here something completely ???

    Try this:
If a detector can measure the energy loss, this measured energy loss should be taken into account in the prediction step instead of the mean energy loss calculated by GFMaterialEffects.
Not yet clear how this can be implemented in a nice and clean way. Somehow GFMaterialEffects has to know when to use a measurement and when to calculate mean energy loss.
