I even tested latest dev AppImage, crashes too.

    No bug here, just a missing game file, I badly extracted GOG install files.
    gemrb crashed because it missed some game files.
    you can close this ticket.

    Alright. If we'd know the file, we could make the error more obvious, but it is what it is now.

    As you asked, I can give you more details:
    when you manually extract GOG game setup exe file with innoextract, some game files are not extracted in the main game folder, but in /support/app/ folder:

    /__support/app/ddrawfix
    /__support/app/icewind2.ini
    /__support/app/setup-ddrawfix.exe
    /__support/app/Party.ini
    /__support/app/ie-ddraw-fix-iwd.cmd
    /__support/app/Keymap.ini
    /__support/app/IWD2.exe
    

    I moved all this file in the main game folder then gemrb no more crash.
