I'm using, and loving both phpgedview (3.3) and gdbi -
except one key area.

I like to add census data in full wherever I have it - and
have found a software called "Gedcom Census" -

http://www.fhug.org.uk/cgi-bin/index.cgi?
action=printtopic&id=111&curcatname=GEDCOM&img=
GEDCOM

which does a brilliant job. Unfortunately it only works
on local gedcom files, and isnt written to access my
gedcom stored in mysql across internet connection.

The same functionality built into gdbi would be brilliant -
any chance of it happening?

Is the author willing to open source his code?

We have submitted an RFE on PGV for a format/routine for
Census data entry too, and agree that this would be a nice
    feature within gdbi

I still don't know how this would work, but I found a link that
seems to give more background. It explains how to add
    census info in Legacy:

surely everyone has their one method of recording the census
details. Mine have "refined" as I've done so many more.
Here's a snapshot of what we now capture. We use the ADD a
FACT and the NOTES section for details. We think ALL of this
could easily be encapsulated into a QUICK EDIT type form,
flexible for US vs UK vs EU type census data for PGV:

This is a family fact, but of course it then doesn't allow
the adding of the data detail to an CHIL record without
simply copying the raw GED info and pasting into their raw
record. It would be nice if PGV could allow the posting to
other records, but of course we usually only have one CHIL,
and parents when we go seeking a census record. Then we add
the record(s) and then the siblings to the original INDI.
