Charles, I've been looking at your terrain "splatting" idea recently (which looks very nice btw), but I've come across some implementation issues with regard to the PS2: The second pass where you render the "splats" using their second gross alpha map is a multi-texture op, how would you simulate this with multi-pass rendering - surely the gross alpha requires different texture coords to the splat texture because the two are different sizes?
