Hello Kent and thank you for your reply. Yes, now that you have prompted me I remember doing just that however on this occasion I was programming thATtiny85's in HV Mode when I have locked them up or ‘bricked them’ as is more commonly termed which leads me to think that perhaps in attempting to connect them up in SPI I might just get lucky - surely worth a try.

Are they really so fickle in the hands of a novice?

Well maybe someone else can pitch in here. I've rescued a Mega168 before for sure, and can't remember on a tiny. Only thing I can think of is to try programming speed of 250kbs and fuses at 8Mhz clock with 1/8 clk division. I know that usually the atmel stuff comes with 1Mhz default clk if I'm not mistaken.

I'm always trying to stay on the right side of the 1's and 0's, it can be a struggle. So when I can't, I look for help here on the forum, or on the web.

Aha !!! Sweet success ! I have now 5 (Yes FIVE!) de-bricked ATtiny85s through using the SPI programming protocols. Now the trick is in finding out what this muppet (me) did to lock them out in the first place.

I have an inclining it was probably to do with oscillator settings. However without going into too much detail, where can I find the factory default fuse settings to set these back?

Purely out of interest. What / how are you doing this? Post your code please.
