now the code I posted in my first entry works as expected! :-) I get stable values from 2-1023!
(Why from 2 ??? - but I can live with that)
MANY THANKS TO ALL OF YOU!!
(...and now for something completely different - I have seen that this chip has an internal temperature sensor that can be read with the AD. Did anybody know how I can do this???)

Just out of interest: Why do I get values of 2... 1023 with the AD and get values of 0... 1023 with PBP3? Is it possible that there are still problems with the AD or is it normal?

Ok, I soldered my input directly to GND and tried another chip => 0
Then I soldered my Poti again => values from 0 to 1019.
Then I tried a 3rd not yet used chip: 2..1023. Same as the first chip...
The values are all very stable!
Is that normal?

Create a new post re the temp sensor please.

No issue with the library. I get 0 to 1023 here on the Great Cow BASIC board.
Check 0v/grounding. Check all connections. I will let others go into the details of this.
