I have contacted SFOps. Asking many usability questions - specificially how to better search, see changes and load videos.
Re Changing. I looked into SF to phpBB migration. It is doable but a proper assessment (as described previously) would really understand the effort and real cost.

as most of casual-core users had reply, firstly i would like to thank all for their opinion.
I see that except of me and mkstevo who really think that this forum is awfull from every possible aspect, thus no need to imporve everythink, all the rest are at least "ok with this.
moving is offcourse possible, and if someone's time is needed to do the work, offcourse I can spend time for the moving.
however since most are "ok" (dont understand why but thats it :)), maybe we can suggest some modification, which is odd to believe that they have not think
some of most important (for me ) i can firstly think are
1) Posts since your last visits
2) difirent coloring of "stick" posts , i see in most morums some post in top, while newer posts are underneath them
3) clearer separation of "forums" (aka categories) and activity, like phphBB you see "categories" (forums here) and see
4) improved search with , category / time / user, at least, options
5) option in order clicking on a topic to go direct to FINAL page and not first one
the list can go forever, or just copy paste a well know forum "feature list" but thats my personal TOP problems

Oh, I forget, fix the singular file attachment problem, so that by default can post up to three files on the first go, instead having to immediately edit the post.

dyslexia means never having to say syrro.
I look at a word I have typed and think the word looks wrong and have to google it :(
I never tried writing a reply in word processor or editor like notepad++ and copy and pasting to the forum.
Hi, I did this with google docs and am going to copy and paste it into the forum.
I Digress and appreciate all access to libraries
pretty easy but spelling suggestions limited.
there is nothing wrong with spilling instead of spelling except context

As much as I dislike SourceForge forums, I wonder whether the cure will cause more trouble than it might be worth. So, my vote would be to stay with SourceForge.
Regarding spelling, Safari usually performs a spell check on text input boxes, but oddly, not on SourceForge. Any (and all) spelling mistakes are of my own work.

If it is not broken then do not fix it.
The forum is mainly for answering users questions and posting code other userss may find useful.
A problem I have with the forum and the gcb code editor is I accidently type a wrong key and
find I am in a mode where every character I type deletes the following character.
What key have I pressed that does this and how to revert to normal editing?

An update from SFOps. They responded very quickly on Wednesday and they are discussing the feedback with me.
Summary of emails
For advance search, if you go to https://sourceforge.net/p/gcbasic/discussion/search/?q= (or just use the search box) then that results page has a Help button. It explains how you can search by author or timestamp, in addition to text.
For embedding video, Embedding from anywhere will not be possible.
SFOps are asking: Are there specific hosts besides YouTube you are interested in?
Regarding the other questions I will pass your ideas along to our product and development team. We are generally unable to make any statements about our roadmaps, as priorities and projects can often change.
I responded and asked SFOps to chase to get an answer.

I tried this from my google drive https://drive.google.com/file/d/1At2Vg6IDgee1HgZBffIudLxtkVsSYSFX/view?usp=sharing
seems to work. I'll try it again. Thanks.
I never bothered with google drive before. chrome just gives you one. I use opera browser..faster and shows original back ground so looks nice.
I think the inbuilt vpn is not a real vpn though.

english is not my native speaking language...as anyone can guess ;)
firefox has spellchecker but it did NOT work here, i guess because of WYSIWYG editor.
spellchecker is good and helpfull, true!
I am dislexic so also have atrocious spelling.
My work around is to use Google Docs as my editor and Copy / Paste into SF.
dyslexia means never having to say syrro.

Just to clarify:
As much as I dislike SourceForge forums, I wonder whether the cure will cause more trouble than it might be worth. So, my vote would be to stay with SourceForge.

you Press INSERT thats a feature in most editors :)
that would not be ctrl and i keys by any chance as ctrl key is below left shift key?
Do not understand your answer
The behaviur you describe above happens when you press insert key
There is key called insert. Try it to check if it yur
Yes. the insert key is a problem in win 10 if you accidently press it...
you can not turn it off. That is my problem I think...not the editor.
