Sounds like you GC is switching into PAL or PAL-60 and your tv can't 
take the PAL color sync. Someone else can probably elaborate on this 
further.

Whoa there! KDE? on 24MB ram? dont think so. Unless of course you mean 
use the GC as a X Terminal for a machine running KDE.
Even then, X over 10MB with 16/24bpp is kinda painful, you'd have to use 
TightVNC, LBX, or something else to get decent speeds.
