Almost any >current "big game" falls into that monstrosity category. > > exactly. i think this is one of the bigger draws of games like counter-strike even - you can jump in and play for 5 minutes or 5 hours ... and have as much fun both times... that instant accessibility is a major factor. i have almost stopped playing single player games for that reason - don't have enough time to set aside for a 60 hour epic anymore...at least until deus ex 2 comes...or doom 3 i think it doesn't matter if you are designing a puzzle game or an action fps, allowing the players to jump in and play as easily and simply as possible is something important to consider... mike w www.uber-geek.ca |
